Godliness With Contentment

“ But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. ” – 1 Timothy 6:6-8

Isn’t it funny how we can easily be deceived into believing that having more is always better? Or that constantly acquiring something new will bring true happiness? When in fact, the truth we find in Scripture tells a much different story. Beginning all the way back to Adam and Eve in the book of Genesis!

While writing to Timothy. The Apostle Paul not only shared a much needed warning of the sin of covetousness in the early Church, and for us today. He also shared the proper response we as followers of Christ should take. Which is godliness with contentment!

Friend, there is no greater achievement in this life, and no greater peace that can be received. Than having a relationship with a Perfect Heavenly Father who knows and provides for our every need!

Finding Good, In Every Circumstance

“He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.” – Proverbs 16:20

It’s safe to say we all desire problem free days with little to no stress! Sadly, those days are few and far between because of this world in which we live. Yet, as believers in Christ. How we respond in every situation matters!

As Christians, we have a choice to either respond to life’s matters in our flesh, or in the power of the Holy Spirit. Handling any matter in our flesh, or based upon our own understanding will never yield the fruit of the Spirit of God.

When we submit ourselves to the Word of God, and the Spirit of God abiding in us. Only then will we experience God’s peace, presence, and power in every matter of life!

Friend, the seemingly great issues of life we face, pale in comparison to a Great Heavenly Father we have! What ever the matters may be, give them over to Him today!

The Father’s Will

“Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” – Galatians 1:3-4

In the Apostle Paul’s greeting to the Churches in Galatia. We a find great reminder of the deliverance we as believers have in Jesus Christ our Lord. From this present evil world.

Yes, even at its best the world in which we live is defined by God as evil. Yet it is so easy for even followers of Christ to fall in love, and become content with making this world our homes.

Whether it’s the praise of people, the pride of possessions, or even the power of positions. There’s nothing in this world that is worth more than a relationship with God The Father through His Son Jesus Christ!

Friend, it is God’s desire that none would die in their sins, but instead be saved through our Lord Jesus Christ who gave His life for sinners such you and me. If you’ve never called upon the Lord for salvation, there is no better day than today!

God’s Institution of Marriage

“ Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; ” – Ephesians 5:22-25

The institution of marriage between one man and one woman, was more than a novel idea from God. It was, and still is today a sacred and lifetime covenant that is to be honored between husband and wife, before God. Not only has God brought forth the Divine institution of marriage. He has also set forth the instructions of marriage as well!

As Paul writes to fellow believers in Ephesus, the Holy Spirit of God inspires Paul to pen down two great instructions for a Godly a marriage. That is, wife’s are to submit to their own Husbands, and husbands are to love their wife’s as Christ loved the Church.

Friend, books on marriage may be nice, but they don’t take the place of a husband and wife yielding to the Holy Spirit of God within the marriage! When this is the case, there is no hinderance to joyful submission and sacrificial love. That will not only be displayed in marriage, but also delighted in as we honor Christ!

Sustained by God

“He that trusteth in his riches shall fall: but the righteous shall flourish as a branch.” – Proverbs 11:28

Many people throughout time, and yet still to today. Have fell for the deception that riches alone are enough to sustain them. That acquiring more is the only true way to have security in life. Sadly, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

Today it is a common occurrence that riches, wealth, and many other resources have been sought after or trusted in more than God. Secretly becoming an Idol to so many people, and sadly to very many Christians as well.

It has never been God’s intent for anyone to seek after and put their trust in riches. Especially God’s people. In fact the Bible teaches us just the opposite. It is God who gives us the power to get wealth (Deuteronomy 8:18).

Just as the world may foolishly trust in their substance, may we faithfully trust in our Sustainer. And just as a branch is sustained by the vine. May we as children of God truly flourish when we abide in Him. And that, by first having a relationship through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!

Friend, if you’ve never repented of your sin, and placed your faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. May today be that glorious day that you do just that!

No Greater Trust

“ Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. ” – Proverbs 3:5-6

We all love the refreshing start of something new. As the New year is just that for many people. Yet, year after year it isn’t long before plans, desires, and resolutions for self change sadly fizzle out when they are not rooted in God and His guidance!

The greatest change we will ever experience is a spiritual change. Growing more like Jesus Christ, and being led by the Spirit of God each and every day. Which first comes by receiving Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior!

Friend. Don’t fall for the deception of self. Our own abilities, resources, or intellect will never be the place to put our trust. May we instead place our trust in He who knows all and knows best! God, and God alone!

Be Ye Holy

“ But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. ” – 1 Peter 1:15-16

Writing to fellow believers. Peter reveals a great truth, and a much needed reminder for the people of God in his day and ours as well. That is, God the Father is holy, and we as children of God are to be holy as well. Without excuse!

Just as it brings great disdain when something of value to us is used carelessly and not in the way it is intended to be used. We too can grieve the Holy Spirit of God abiding in us. When we as believers don’t turn from sin, and choose to walk in holiness as we’re called to!

Just as the Church has no effect on a lost and dying world when it seeks to be like the world, we as individual believers will not have any impact on our generation apart from holiness!

May the Lord help us, as we live a holy, separated life to the Glory of our Father in Heaven!

The Importance of the Gospel

“ But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. ” – 2 Cor. 4:3-4

How can something so glorious as the gospel (good news) of Jesus Christ. Be refused, neglected, and shunned by a lost and dying world? The answer is simple, the Devil!

The Apostle Paul writing to the Church in Corinth. Reminds them of the deceiving work of Satan in the minds of those who reject the gospel.

The devil has no greater mission than to keep one from hearing the gospel, believing the gospel, or sharing the gospel! Why? So that lost sinners too would spend an eternity in the Lake of fire with him!

The good news is, no one has to! Turn to Jesus Christ today, and receive Him as your personal Lord and Savior!

Jesus died, was buried, and rose again, shedding His precious blood to pay the penalty for your sins and mine!

Friend, if you’ve never repented of your sin and turned to Jesus Christ through faith. May today be the day you make that life changing and life saving decision!

Giving Christ His Proper Headship

“ Now this I say, that every one of you saith, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ. Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul? ” – 1 Corinthians 1:12-13

Proper Headship is a must! Without it, it won’t be long before contentions, strife, and every other form of chaos takes hold. Even in the family of God!

The Apostle Paul writing to the Church in Corinth. Sadly, addresses a problem that we can find all to often in Churches today. Favoritism within the body of Christ (or improper headship).

Friend, one of the quickest ways to hinder the work of the Holy Spirit in the Church today. Is to put any servant of God in the place where our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ solely belongs. That is above all!

May The Lord help us as we continue to give Him in His proper Headship! And live for Him who died for us and rose again!

The Cleansing Work of God

“ Who can say, I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin? ” – Proverbs 20:9

There are many who believe that by, being a nice person, doing religious works, or by other forms of good works they are able to purge their sin. Earning them Salvation and forgiveness from God. Sadly, this couldn’t be any further from the truth!

As king Solomon asks a rhetorical question, in Proverbs 20:9. The sincere answer to that question is without a doubt. No one!

We all must first receive the risen Savior, Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior! Only then does the Spirit of God work in our lives as we obey the Word the God!

Indeed. Christ’s precious blood was shed for the sins of the whole world, but it was also shed for our sin in particular!

Friend, have you trusted in Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior? If not, there is truly no better day than today to do just that!
